The EMSCULPT device harnesses the power of electromagnetic energy. The EMSCULPT paddle(s) are placed on the treatment area where they deliver the HIFEM (High Intensity Focused Electromagnetic) energy below the surface of skin. The focused energy targets the muscles within the treatment area. The powerful waves engage the muscles to perform supramaximal contractions.
Supramaximal contractions are more intense than those that can be achieved by the body during a high intensity workout. A 30 minute abdominal treatment is equivalent to doing 20,000 abdominal crunches. The muscle tissue is forced to adapt to the extreme conditions leading to muscle building while burning fat. An EMSCULPT session feels like an intense workout: the muscles contract rather forcefully in rapid succession. As you can imagine, you may have some muscle soreness afterwards.
The treatment protocol consists of four treatments spaced 2-3 days apart. Each EMSCULPT treatment lasts 30 minutes. After that, you can determine with your provider on the appropriate maintenance regimen for you.
