How is VASER® Liposuction different from traditional Lipo?

VASER Lipo, also known as LipoSelection, is an advanced body contouring procedure that selectively removes unwanted body fat. This technique uses ultrasound technology to gently reshape your body without harming surrounding tissues, promoting faster healing.

How does VASER Lipo work?

1. We fill the treatment area with a saline solution to numb the area and allow us to easily break up fatty tissue
2. We use a small probe to transit ultrasound energy to break up fat without affecting surrounding tissue
3. We remove liquefied fat through a gentle suction process

What areas can be treated with VASER Lipo?

We use VASER to treat any of the following areas:

• Abdomen
• Love handles (flanks)
• Back
• Male chest

How much fat can be removed?

Dr. Shektman will determine the amount of fat that can be safely removed depending on your body composition and personal goals. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure, so it focuses on sculpting your curves as opposed to removing large amounts of fat.

How soon will I see my results? what is the recovery time?

While recovery depends on the amount of fat removed, the number of sites treated, and the extent of your personal treatment plan, many patients return to normal activities within 4-7 days. While you’ll notice an immediate difference, your final results will settle after about six months.

What about future weight gain or fat migrating to other areas?

Once you have fat removed with VASER liposuction, it is gone. As long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle of proper diet and exercise, it will not return or migrate. However, if you do gain a significant amount of weight, the remaining fatty tissue will expand. Normal aging changes can also be expected.
